SUPPLIERS MENU OPENING TIMES CHURN MADE GOODS

A Warm welcome awaits you at the Milk Churn,

the home of Sussex Charmer

The Milk Churn is located in Rudgwick on the Surrey / Sussex border, on the site of a former brickworks.

Following the success of our Sussex Charmer Cheese on Toast trailers, we opened The Milk Churn in April 2013. The original plan was to showcase our products, namely Sussex Charmer and Twineham Grange cheeses, as well as our South Downs Butter.

The Milk Churn has grown considerably over the years, but we have always remained true to our original plan of delivering first-class service with a smile, in a warm and friendly environment. We offer a simple menu, which features our own products along with quality, local ingredients.

One thing we knew from our cheese-on-toast trailers was that if you offered a limited menu, the items you served had to be top-notch quality. We are very fortunate to have local to us a great number of food producers, many of whom have become our friends after attending Farmers’ Markets with us for many years.

The growth popularity of the Milk Churn has given us a platform to showcase many of these local products in addition to our own. Our menu and shop feature bread from two local artisan bakeries, our local family butchers, as well as more than 20 other local producers. Please click HERE is see who our lovely suppliers are.

We are delighted that The Milk Churn has been awarded 2023 Champion. The Countryside Alliance Awards are the largest rural awards. This year over 15,000 businesses were nominated.

It all started when…

Following the success of our Charmer on Toast trailers, we have built a coffee shop on the farm in order to show case our products. Fuelled by its signature dish, Charmer on Toast, it was featured in The Guardian’s Top Ten UK places to eat in the countryside.

The Milk Churn has become a popular haunt for all ages, where you can relax in comfortable surroundings, enjoying Charmer on Toast whilst admiring the Charmer cows grazing the pasture next door. A true plough to plate experience!

Please watch our video below.

We do supply gluten free products, but please note we can not cater for Celiacs, as our kitchen is not gluten free.

Where are we?

Our coffee shop is situated next door to our Woodsomes farm and immediately adjacent to the Downs Link; a disused railway line, which has become a footpath, bridle path and cycle way linking Guildford to Shoreham.

We are just to the north of Rudgwick along Lynwick Street, which links the northern part of Church Street, Rudgwick to the A281. Turn off A281 opposite The Fox Inn and continue along Lynwick Street over the bridge, follow the milk churns.

Our postcode for SatNav is RH12 3DH

Please use the entrance into the coffee shop car park and not the main Brickworks entranc
